This Joy sign is inspired by the beautiful contradiction of rustic burlap, natural wood and industrial metal.
I was perusing my local Goodwill and happened upon this gorgeous wooden frame and immediately knew it was going to work for this project. I purchased a couple yards of burlap, washed it (and then made the mistake of folding it in storage for too long…hence the creases.)

To make the letters, I purchased paper mache letters and sprayed them with copper metallic spray paint.
To create the backing for the burlap, I cut a piece of cardboard to size. Then, I wrapped the cardboard in burlap and attached it to the frame with a staple gun. The letters are attached with hot glue.
In order to hang the sign on the wall, I purchased some wall hanging hardware and screwed it into the cardboard.
And voila! A completely unique, custom piece of art I can hang for the holidays!
What would your holiday wall art say?
